Lynda Redman Tripp

Lynda Redman Tripp, 74, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 29, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western St. with Pastor Lance Herrington officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later time. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Lynda was born August 13, 1943 in Amarillo to O.B. and Pansy Redman. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1961 at age 17, and before age 20, had earned her BA in English from West Texas State University. Lynda was dedicated to higher learning. She earned her Master's degree in English in 1977. She taught school for 30 years; first at WTSU for a year, then at Crockett Middle School for seven years, and finally, at Amarillo High School for 22 years. Lynda enjoyed travelling the world. She served her teaching internship in Mexico City, Mexico. She visited Switzerland, Italy, Africa, Australia, Hawaii, and more. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jonita Davies and husband Don Davies; her son-in-law, Wes Doan; a niece, Diann Davies; and a cousin, Fern Smith. Survivors include a son, Derek Drown and wife Lynell of Amarillo; three daughters, Delyn Doan, Donyelle Kelley and husband Kevyn all of Amarillo, and Danita Rigert and husband Travis of Corbett, OR; a niece, Donna Bishop and husband Curt of Longmont, CO; 12 grandchildren, Alex, Colton, Justin, Tyler, Walker, Shande, Ryder, Adley, Kinsley, Dustin, Kreston, and Braydon; 6 great-grandchildren, Yuma, Aiden, Bradie, Cedar, McKenna, and Laila; and her four beloved dogs, "V", "Stella", "Bean", and "Yum-Yum".
