Lyndon E. Wagner, 79, of Bushland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by family and lifelong friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home with Robbie Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Llano East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, Amarillo.

Born April 27, 1946, in Amarillo, Texas, to Wilbur and Dorothy Wagner, Lyndon grew up with deep roots in the Panhandle. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1964 and married the love of his life, Lindal Beason, on April 8, 1966, at Bushland Baptist Church. Together they built a marriage of 58 years, raising their children and grandchildren with faith, humor, and the unshakable values of hard work and kindness.

Farming was more than a job to Lyndon—it was his life’s calling. For 60 years, he worked the same fields in Bushland, pouring his heart into the land he loved. He believed farming wasn’t just about crops, but about community and legacy. His dedication earned him recognition as National Conservation Farmer of the Year, and he proudly served as president of the Bushland Grain Co-op and on the Bushland School Board.

Lyndon had a way of turning even an ordinary day into a story worth telling. His friends and family could always count on him for a quick joke, a tall tale, or a memory that would make them laugh until their sides hurt. He had a contagious smile that lit up every room and a generosity that knew no bounds.

In his younger years, Lyndon found joy in tractor pulling and hot rods, traveling across the region on weekends to compete, often bringing home trophies—and even better stories. Skilled with his hands, he was happiest when building something in his shop or fixing what others thought was beyond repair. He collected toy tractors and coins, each with its own story to share, and he was never too busy to teach a child or neighbor how something worked.

Lyndon’s heart was as wide as the Texas sky. He and Lindal often opened their home to friends, family, and neighbors, offering a good meal, a listening ear, and plenty of laughter. He treasured his children, grandchildren, and family, passing down his love for the land and storytelling.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lindal Wagner, in 2024; his parents; infant twins Ricky Don and Cynthia Ann Wagner; and brothers Glen and Gary Wagner.

Lyndon is survived by his daughter, Stacy Spiker and husband Rick of Denton, TX; his son, Jason Wagner and wife Sundy of Bushland, TX; grandchildren Colby Spiker, Collin Spiker, Carissa Spiker, Kaiden Gillenwaters, and Kylee Gillenwaters; his brother, Lee Wagner and wife Tommie of Vega, TX; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends who felt like family.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Amarillo SPCA, an organization close to Lyndon’s heart. His family takes comfort knowing he is reunited with Lindal and will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, steadfast friend, and proud steward of the land.
