Marcus Jaso

June 12, 1970 — May 2, 2024

Amarillo

Marcus Jaso, 53, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Services will be held at a later date.

Marcus was born June 12, 1970 in Amarillo, Texas to Leonor Gonzales and Felipe Jaso. Born with severe heart issues, he was one of the first children to be operated on by Dr. Michael DeBakey in Houston in 1970 as an infant, having had two heart surgeries in the first two years of his life. Marcus was a miracle to his family, and they are so grateful to have had him for 53 years. Marcus grew up in a large family and they were very important to him, especially his precious mother, whom he adored.

Marcus found true love with Senesa Renee Encinias. The two of them had a blast together for the last ten years. Marcus had a great sense of humor; he was funny even when he wasn’t trying to be funny. He loved the outdoors and fishing in New Mexico, as well as music and dancing when he was able. He loved to cook, and picked up his mother’s cooking style over the years he spent with her. Marcus was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, which led to many sessions of competitive chatting in the family group chat with his siblings, regarding plays during the games. He was a Catholic. Marcus was a very loving, kind-hearted and compassionate person. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leonor “Nonie” Gonzales; and a sister, Sylvia Jaso.

Survivors include his father, Felipe Jaso of Amarillo; his companion of ten years, Renee Encinias of Clayton, NM; three brothers, Victor Jaso of Amarillo, Tito Jaso and wife Nelda of Midland, and Ronnie Jaso and wife Yolanda of Edinburg, TX; three sisters, Rosa Lindsey and husband Terry of Midland, Maria Reynero and husband Felipe, and Mary Watts and husband Fermin all of Amarillo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or to DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center in Houston, Texas.
