Maria "Sylvia" (Martinez) Ramirez

It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of our mother Maria Sylvia Ramirez known affectionately as Sylvia on August 5, 2024. Funeral Mass has been scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday August 9, 2024 at St. Hyacinth, 4500 West Hills Trail, with Father Zanetti officiating. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday August 8, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM Thursday August 8, 2024. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Sylvia was born on June 10, 1954 in Hereford, Texas to Ernest Martinez and Teresa Almaraz. She married the love of her life Fred Ramirez in 1971. Sylvia was a homemaker her whole life raising 8 children. She loved family time, shopping at thrift stores and garage sales. Sylvia loved to test her luck with lottery tickets and she won more times than she lost. She always had the coolest vintage tees. Sylvia loved Wizard of Oz and the Beatles. She never met a stranger and loved to meet new people. We will all miss her so much but we are at peace knowing she is with her twin babies she lost Michael and Sara.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister Vangie; and her two brothers Ernie and Victor.

Those left to cherish her memories are the love of her life, her husband of 53 years Fred Ramirez; her two daughters, Hilda and husband Lance; Melinda and husband Robert both of Amarillo; her six sons, Freddie and wife Magon of Northlake, Texas; Daniel and wife Netty; David and wife Maria; Bobby and wife Sabrina; Steven; and Tommy and wife Alizaye all of Amarillo; her 26 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Survivors also include her sisters, Gracie Gutierrez and her husband Mario of Hereford, TX; Diana Mejia and her husband Pat of Casa Grande, Arizona; and Ernestina Ortiz of Hereford; and numerous nephews and nieces.
