Maria "Marty" Moneymaker

Maria “Marty” Moneymaker, 81, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday July 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Rosary services will be 6:00 PM Tuesday July 25, 2023 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Wednesday July 26, 2023 at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 2300 N Spring Street, with Father Haider Quintero Presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Marty was born on July 31, 1941 in Cimarron, New Mexico. She married her husband, Bill Moneymaker in February of 1964 and has been a part of the Amarillo community since 1966. Marty worked for many years as a housekeeper supervisor for the VA Medical Center of Amarillo. She loved sports and in her younger days she played many games of basketball, softball and volleyball; Marty loved the Atlanta Braves and the Tennessee Vols. She loved to travel to watch her grandchildren sports games. Marty enjoyed having breakfast or lunch with any of her loved ones.

Marty was a longtime member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was dedicated to her faith. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her children and grandchildren and had a wonderful sense of humor. Marty was a vivacious, feisty and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Marty was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Martinez; her husband, Bill Moneymaker; two brothers, Joe Lee Montoya and Joe H. Martinez; one daughter, Yvonne Apodaca; and a great-granddaughter Kadence Montano.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvette Williams and husband, Kurt of Amarillo; her son, Robert Apodaca of Amarillo; her nine grandchildren, Litney (Ricardo); Jeremy; Denise (Cameron); Hope; Jennifer (Edward); Hank (Whitney); Bill (Dee); Kevin (Monica); Jordan; Diana; ten great-grandchildren; Sydnee, Kyhlah, Kyron, Zyriah, Zariah, Julian, Olivia, Zian, Brylee, Kameron, Kobi, Kaiden, Kelbi Jo, and Harper. Survivors also include a host of other family members and dear friends.
