Marie Lagerquist

Marie Lagerquist, 68, of Amarillo, won the ultimate victory over cancer and entered the presence of Jesus on Sunday June 9, 2024. The Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday June 15, 2024 at LifePoint Fellowship, 7601 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Caleb Pearson officiating. The Family Graveside Service will take place at the Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery of Abilene prior to the Celebration of Life. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home in Amarillo.

Marie was born February 9, 1956 in San Francisco, California to William and Betty Carlisle. She was a skilled dress-maker who enjoyed sewing and quilting. An avid reader, Marie also worked as an LPN and Ophthalmology assistant. She was very passionate about taking care of her home and loving her family. Marie remained a dedicated wife to her husband, Bruce, acting as his caregiver for over twenty years during their forty-eight years of marriage. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed greatly.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, William Carlisle and Betty Carlisle; her step mother, Mary Carlisle; her step siblings, Cheri Ouellette and Steven Ouellette.

She is survived by her husband Bruce Lagerquist of Amarillo; two daughters, Sarah (Ryan) Simmons of Amarillo, and Hannah Lagerquist of Amarillo; two grandsons, Isaiah Simmons and Josiah Simmons both of Amarillo; and nephew, Anthony Ouellette of Shoreline, Washington.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation and thanks to Ussery Roan Veteran’s Home for taking care of Marie during her last months as well as Texas Oncology and BSA Hospital of Amarillo who helped Marie walk through her diagnosis and last days and also provided comfort to Marie’s family in such an excellent way.
