Rev. Marshall Ray "Cotton" Mitchell

Rev. Marshall Ray “Cotton” Mitchell, age 88, left his earthly body and stepped into eternity to meet his Savior, Jesus on Thursday, September 12, 2019.  Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday Chaparral Hills Baptist Church, 4000 W. Cherry Ave. with Dr. Alan Burkhalter officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Friday at Logan Cemetery in Logan, New Mexico with Rev. Steve Kulback officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Marshall was born July 10, 1931 in Des Moines, New Mexico to the late David E. and Mapry (Deaton) Mitchell. He was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and a Baptist Preacher, ministering to several churches for over 40 years. He was a member of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Cleo Nell (Bacon) Mitchell; his parents; a brother, Edmon Mitchell; and a sister, Pattie Ratliff. Marshall is survived by two sons, Steve Mitchell and wife Teresa of Amarillo, and Karl G. Mitchell of San Diego, CA; a daughter, RaNell Mitchell of Amarillo; a brother, Wayne “Red” Mitchell and wife Yvonne of Fresno, CA; three grandchildren, Jake Mitchell, Cody Smith and wife Kenzie, and Kristen Smith; five great-grandchildren, Kalei Smith, Emeri Smith, Averi Smith, Nevin Smith, and Ryan Smith.
