Mary Jo Bell

Mary Jo Bell, 93, of Amarillo, died Monday, September 3, 2018. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at First Baptist Church - Chapel, 1208 S. Tyler St. with Rev. Corky Holland officiating. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Mary Jo was born May 4, 1925 in Ardmore, Okla. to Charley and Lucile Harris. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, OK, and married Charles E. "Charlie" Bell on October 6, 1943. They moved to Amarillo in 1957 from Oklahoma City. Mary Jo worked as a real estate agent for over 20 years, many of which were at Ada Realtors. She and Charlie were longtime members at First Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved playing games, especially bridge. She enjoyed spending time with her friends. Mary Jo was very involved in her grandkids' lives. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Bell in 2015; and two sisters, Kate Puckett, and Elizabeth Austin. Survivors include two sons, Charles T. Bell and wife Mary of Ft. Myers, FL, and J. David Bell and wife Linda of Montgomery; a daughter, Jo Stevens and husband Perry of Amarillo; two brothers, Charles D. Harris and William Harris both of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren, Steve Bell, Amy Bell, Jonathan Bell, Erin Plaster, and Katherine Stevens; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
