Celebrating the Life of a Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend

Mary Worth Board gained her freedom from this world on September 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born on February 10, 1941, in Estelline, Texas, to Sherman and Josie Lee Worth, Mary’s journey began in the Texas Panhandle. As a baby, her family moved to Amarillo, where she spent her childhood, formative and adult years.

Mary attended school in Amarillo and was a proud graduate of Tascosa High School, Class of 1959. Throughout her life, she worked in a variety of roles, always giving her all and making lifelong friends along the way. As a teenager, Mary was a carhop at the Hidy-Ho, where her friendly smile and quick wit were well known. She later earned her associate’s degree in Printing from TSTI, which led to a position with Sav-A-Stop in their printing division on the TSTI campus, located at the old airbase. Mary dedicated many years to her work there, forming bonds with colleagues and contributing her skills to the business.

Never one to shy from hard work, Mary began working at Red Lobster while still at Sav-A-Stop. Her time at Red Lobster spanned an incredible 37 years, where she became a cherished friend and coworker to many. She finally retired at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and friendship.

Mary’s warmth and zest for life were evident to everyone who knew her. She treasured time with her family and friends, always eager for gatherings filled with laughter and stories. Mary loved playing bingo, watching sports, and attending family events. No matter the outcome, she was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and cheered just as passionately for the Texas Rangers. In her later years, Mary developed a love for ice hockey and minor league baseball, she could often be found sitting in the stands cheering for the local sports teams.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents Sherman and Josie Lee Worth; her sisters Ruthie Briant (Bub), Doris Littau (Dick), and Lou Wilson (Bill); her brother Eddie Worth; her son-in-law Juan Barrera and great grandsons Jhequaylen Badillo and Landon McGinnis.

She is survived by her brother James Worth of Amarillo; Cynthia Leonard of Joshua Tree, California; and her sister-in-law Jo Worth (Eddie). Mary’s legacy lives on through her seven children, all of Amarillo: Kenny Hotchkiss (Debbie), Bobby Hotchkiss, Cy Hotchkiss (Tammie), John Hotchkiss, Kathryn Bartlett, Lori Hotchkiss (Juan), and Melissa Barnes (Steve).

Mary was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Johnathon McGinnis, Kendra Neie (Carl), Amanda Roland (Ray), Andre Barnes, Angel Badillo, Kenneth Hotchkiss, Erik Hotchkiss (Angela), Vicky Ramirez (Bobby), Jared Hotchkiss (Melissa), Michelle Wesley (Charles), Alex Hotchkiss, Matthew Barrera and Staxia Barnes.
