Mary began her life on April 3, 1923 in Guymon, OK, the second daughter of Opal and Carl Davis. She, her three siblings, and their mother were products of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and World War II, but except for their father's early demise, they survived as a strong family. In 1941, Mary married Buddy Brunton of Texhoma, and they moved to Amarillo after his return from World War II in 1945. Mary, Buddy, and her first two children were charter members of Kingswood Methodist Church, and she participated for several years in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. She loved to water ski and visit with her siblings, all of whom remained in Guymon.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Jim Brunton and wife Kathy, Joey Brunton and wife Tonya of Amarillo; daughter, Judy Brunton and life partner, Sallye Sheppeard of Beaumont, step-daughter, Deanna Donelson Curry of Belton. Surviving their grandmother, who loved them dearly, are Jennifer Brunton Cox of Houston, Jill Brunton of Amarillo and Jace Brunton of Killeen. Buddy Brunton, her first husband, and father of her children stayed a constant friend and help during her long struggle with dementia.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bettye Davis Kiser; brothers, Jimmie and Bob Davis, all of Guymon; her nephew, Rob Davis of Angel Fire, NM and her second husband, B.E. Donelson of Amarillo.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Ware Memorial Care Center and the BSA Hospice Unit for the compassion and skill they offered to Mary and her family throughout her decline.
