Mary Ellen Gilchrest

Mary Ellen Gilchrest, 75, of Amarillo took her first steps into heaven on January 30, 2022. She takes her place saved by the Angels. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday February 8, 2022 at Washington Ave. Christian Church, 3800 S Washington St. with Pastor Lennie McCay officiating. Mary will be available for viewing on Monday from 12:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Mary was born in Borger on the 16th of July, 1946. She was a long time member of Washington Ave. Christian church and lived most of life in the Amarillo area. Mary worked as a customer service representative in retail for various local companies until her retirement in 2021 from Kohl’s Department store. She was an Angel on earth for many and a loving and dedicated mother, grandma, and Aunt.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; Robert Thompson and Pauline Thompson; two brothers, one sister and her husband, Odis Gilchrest.

Survivors include her two daughters, Tami Gilchrest and Tanya Taylor and husband Lee of Watauga, TX; three sons, Shane Gilchrest and wife Nicole of Pensacola, Florida, Shawn Gilchrest of South Texas and John Gilchrest of Dallas; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Survivors also include a host of extended family and close friends.
