Mary Holman

Mary Holman, 85, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Mary was born February 19, 1941 in Elyria, Ohio to George and Marie Johnston. She grew up with a brother George Johnston. Mary made her career in the food and retail industries, having worked for Zesty Burger, C. R. Anthony’s, Levine’s, and Nutrition House. Following the death of her husband Bill Teakell, Mary married Roger “Banjo” Holman in November of 2008. They attended Southlawn Assembly of God Church in Amarillo. They were married 16 years until Roger’s passing in October of 2025.

Mary was an animal lover and enjoyed making friends with and feeding the stray cats in her neighborhood. She was saddened by the recent loss of her favorite cat, “Mr. Fluffy”.

Mary was preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy Lou Buckholdt and Denise Ann Patterson; two sons, Daniel Buckholdt and Timothy Buckholdt; husband, Bill Teakell and husband, Roger Holman; two step-sons, Dennis Dale Teakell and Danny Holman.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Santangelo of Florida; a step-son, Billy Teakell of Paris, TX; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Thomason and husband Jeff of Amarillo; her best friend, Rosa Lopez of Amarillo; three grandchildren, April Riddle, Amanda Waters and DJ Holman; and several great-grandchildren.
