Mary James

Mary James, 74, of Amarillo passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020. Funeral services will be Wednesday April 8, 2020 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home with Jake Galvan officiating.

Mary was born in Knox City, Texas to Joyce Norman and Evelyn French on September 24, 1945.  She attended high school in Rule, Texas. She married Jesse James in Amarillo on March 13, 1964. Mary was a family oriented person and loved spending time with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She could often be found traveling to her grandchildren’s games, or spending time with her cousin Pat. Mary and her cousin were rarely spotted without each other, Mary and Pat enjoyed going to the casinos together. She also enjoyed NASCAR, her children have many fond memories of their parents taking them to the races. Mary was a very giving person, and always would lend a helping hand to those that needed it.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jesse James; one son, Jesse James Jr.; one brother, Darral French; one grandson, Ren Smith.

Survivors include three daughters; Kalena Smith of Amarillo, Kathy Smith of Floydada, and Karla James of Amarillo; one son, Kurry James also of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Austin, Amber, Lynnde, Kylie, Hayden, Rennen, and Kyle. Survivors also include nine great grandchildren.
