Mary Light

Mary Light, 79, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Marvin Winton officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mary was born Jan. 5, 1935, in Seth, W.Va., to John and Ada Abbott. She married Allen Light in 1955, in West Virginia. The couple moved to Odessa in 1960. Mary was very proud of her heritage ,and her family would say she was fiercely competitive. She had a kind heart, and she and Allen would open their home to many and treat them as family. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. She spoiled her grandchildren immensely and was proudest of all to be their Mama. She was preceded in death by her parents, many brothers and sisters, and her two best friends, Tina Bush and Evelyn Griffin. Survivors include her husband, Allen Light of Amarillo; two sons, Allen Light Jr. and wife Gloria of Corpus Christi and Larry Light and wife Julie of Cedar Park; a daughter, Tina Hare and husband Randy of Amarillo; a brother, Lawrence Abbott and wife Lou of Odessa; two sisters, Irene Collins and Barbara Bonds, both of Seth and four grandchildren, Ryan Light, Ty Light, John Hare and Christina Hare.
