Maurice was born on February 16, 1933 in Los Angeles County, California to Charles and Helen (Rossiter) Perreiah. He graduated from Alhambra High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army from September, 1953 to June, 1955. Maurice also attended Loyola University in Los Angeles and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962. He taught English and drama at Anaheim High School and Savannah High School in Anaheim, California in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He also taught English at Orangeview Junior High School in Anaheim in the 1970's and 1980's. He married Barbara Yvonne McMillin in 1964. The couple had two children, Christian and Yvonne.
Maurice was known for his dramatic flair, sense of humor, and his ability to make other laugh. This was very noticeable at the numerous family gatherings over the years, especially at Thanksgiving. He also loved jazz, painting, bicycling, and fishing. Maurice spent many hours in the harbor and at the pier in Newport Beach, California fishing for halibut, bass, and perch. One of his nicknames could be "The Old Portuguese Fisherman".
Maurice passed away on August 16, 2016 in Amarillo, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Survivors include one son, Christian David Perreiah and family of Spokane, WA; one daughter, Yvonne Marie Perreiah and family of Amarillo, TX; one brother Alan Perreiah of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Joan Salvatierra of Phoenix, AZ, and Jeanne McRae of Torrance, CA.
