Maybell Thomason

Maybell Thomason, 87, of Amarillo passed away on February 4, 2018. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home. Maybell was born on October 23, 1930 in Pontotoc, OK to Virgil and Gracie Keenom. She moved to Texas as a child, where she married Roy W. Thomason on October 29, 1947 in Canyon. He preceded her in death in 2007. Maybell worked for Skaggs Drugstore before her employment at Coleman Tool, where she worked for many years. She then worked at Robert E. Lee Elementary, serving in the cafeteria until her retirement after 17 years. She loved traveling to Red River with her husband when she was able as well as cooking and baking wonderful meals for her family. In her free time, she loved to shop, spend time with family and solve word search puzzles. Maybell was known to be strong-willed and independent and will be missed greatly by her family. She is survived by her a daughter, Brenda Baker and husband Theron of Borger; two sons, Billy Thomason and wife Marsha and James Thomason and wife Susan, all of Amarillo; sister, Emmadale Callaway of Amarillo; brother-in-law, James Thomason of Bartlesville, OK; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 brothers, Therman and Herman Keenom and her sister, Pauline Duffy.
