Mayetta Hartford Parr, 92, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Memorial services will be at Trinity Fellowship Church- Student Ministries Building, 5000 Hollywood Road at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021, with Chaplain Byron Williamson officiating.
Mayetta was born October 26, 1928 in Newton, Kansas to Harry and Leona Hartford. She married Bill Parr on October 14, 1955 in Amarillo. She worked for Bell Helicopter for 10 years as a data clerk. Mayetta was extremely proud of her work with the Potter County Republican party, where she served as co-chair. She was voted State Republican Woman of the Year. She was an active member of Trinity Fellowship Church, and served in the Bethesda Outreach. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler, winning many badges and awards. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and cross stitch. Mayetta loved carnations!
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Parr; a brother, John Hartford; and a grandson, Michael Parr.
Survivors include a daughter, Tomorra “Tomi” Parr and husband Clay Tarpley of Dallas; two sons, Bryan Parr and wife Sharilyn of Jefferson, TX, and Kyle Pratt and wife Paige of Amarillo; a brother, Charles E. Hartford and wife Lillian of Greenville, TX; three grandchildren, Jacob Parr, Gentry Pratt and Kyler Pratt; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two daughters by heart, Kerrie Young and Ferron Garrison.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to the staff of BSA Hospice of the Southwest, especially Melissa Estrada, and to the staff of Ware Living Center for their loving and dedicated care for Mayetta.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest or a favorite charity.
