Melinda "Jean" Getchell

Melinda “Jean” Getchell, 66, of Austin, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Memorial services will be held in October in Austin, Texas.

Jean was born October 18, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Raymond and Lawana Jo Lowin. Jean had one daughter, Lynnae, and was married to Charles Getchell. Jean was trained as a paramedic and her personality leaned to caring for people. She was an avid animal and earth lover. She enjoyed music and went to many concerts. She loved riding motorcycles and watching old movies. Jean was an art and antique collector. She was a unique person who loved living life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Getchell; a brother, James Lowin; and Dexter, her beloved dog.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynnae Macias and husband Gabe of Buda, TX; three sisters, Pamela Atkins and Marjorie Collins both of Amarillo, and Christina Brown and husband John of New Hampshire; two granddaughters, Masyn and Maddisyn.
