Melissa Irene Lundberg

December 6, 1959 — June 7, 2026

Amarillo

Melissa Irene Lundberg, 66, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Melissa was born December 6, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas to Lawrence “Swede” and Billie “Marceill” Lundberg. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1978 and went on to attend Amarillo College and West Texas State University. She earned her bachelor degree in Food Safety from Arizona State University. Melissa worked for SPS for 12 years and for Home Depot. During her time living in Cumming, Georgia, she worked for the Forsyth County Health Department as a food inspector. For the last several years, she has worked for Conduent, processing medical claims. She was a member of Saint Stephen Methodist Church.

In her spare time, Melissa was an avid reader and enjoyed doing cross-stitch. She loved cooking and baking as well. She was a huge animal lover, especially dogs (Dachshunds were her favorite) and horses. She enjoyed taking her sweet Lucy for walks. Known as “Aunt Issy”, Melissa loved playing with her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was like a big kid herself, playing games, reading to them and of course, getting scrappy with occasional snowball fights. She poured light and positive energy into their lives. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and coworkers.

Melissa was preceded in death by two uncles, David Swanson and Walter Lundberg.

Survivors include a brother, Larry Lundberg and wife Debora of Lubbock; a sister, Melanie Lamb of Amarillo; two uncles, David Lundberg and wife Jan of Amarillo, and John Lundberg of Klamath Falls, OR; nieces and nephews, Megan Lamb Martinez, Ryan Lundberg, Eric Lundberg, Tyler Lundberg, and Katie Belknap; and great-nieces and nephews, Bryce Lundberg, McKayla Lundberg, Lyla Martinez, Peyton Lundberg and Kinsley Lundberg. She is also survived by several cousins in the Texas panhandle area; and her beloved dog, Lucy.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, at www. https://bestfriends.org/sanctuary; or to Dove Creek Ranch & Equine Rescue, at www. https://dovecreekequinerescue.org/.
