Michael James Gray, 48, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Deacon Robert Smith officiating. Michael was born December 17, 1971 in Independence, Missouri to Freddie and Lorene Gray. He grew up in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He moved to Amarillo from Atlanta in 2014. Michael was a self-employed contractor. He owned and operated “Designs by Michael”. He later worked for Abal Auto as a detailer and salesman. Michael was a talented guitarist. He was an avid fan of University of Missouri and the Kansas City Chiefs. To say he was an animal lover was an understatement. He lived to rescue dogs, and adored his precious Rosie. Michael attended St, Mary’s Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Michael loved his couch time with his Rosie girl and with the love of his life, Andrew. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Gray, Jr.; his sister, Donna Sue Gray; and his beloved dog, Buddy. Survivors include his partner and best friend, Andrew Zuniga; his mother, Lorene Gray of Amarillo; his step-son, Zachary Zuniga and wife Amber of Amarillo; his brother, Daniel Gray and wife Angela of Amarillo; his sister, Angela Curtis and husband Wayne of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Madison and Sawyer; his beloved “Rosie Girl”; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter St. Amarillo, TX 79119.
