Michael Neil Harris, 50, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
Michael was born on March 27, 1964 in Amarillo to Edwin and Carla Harris. He was raised in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1983. He started at Santa Fe Railroad in 1983 working in track maintenance until the time of his death. He loved the railroad and the men that he worked with. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Teri Coffey on November 10, 1984 in Amarillo. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to golf immensely. He frequently traveled playing golf and especially enjoyed his trips to play at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Michael was active in boy scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was awarded bronze, silver and gold palms. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by his family and many, many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Teri Harris of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Burkley Harris of Lubbock and Macie Harris of Amarillo, who he loved to the moon and past; parents, Edwin and Carla Harris of Amarillo; brother, Gregory Harris and wife Rebecca of Amarillo; in-laws, Jerry and Lou Osborn of Claude; brother-in-law, Michael Coffey of Amarillo and many nieces and a nephew who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his aunt, Sue Burton; grandparents, Ed and LaRue Burton and Vance and Mildred Harris.
