Michael James McCormick II, 47, of Amarillo died Monday, April 17, 2017. Private graveside service will be today in Miami with his father, Michael McCormick, and great-uncle, Wayne Baker officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Michael was born on May 4, 1969, in Amarillo. Michael was a member and baptized at Coulter Road Baptist Church. He loved God, family, friends, the outdoors, biking, hunting and fishing. Michael attended Amarillo High School and Amarillo College. His passion as an artist allowed him to pursue a career in landscaping. Michael had a huge heart to help others at a moment's notice. His family is proud of his God given abilities. His smile was contagious and sincere. We are blessed and assured he is in the arms of our savior. He was a devoted Christian who embraced his daily Bible reading and prayers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Dale Bailey and Jimmie and Lorene McCormick.
Survivors include his father and mother, Michael and Kay McCormick of Amarillo; a son, Nicholas McCormick of Amarillo; a brother, Dr. Bryan McCormick and wife Stephanie of Dallas and their two children, Emily and Aiden McCormick; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be to Herring National Bank in Amarillo in honor of Michael McCormick under the beneficiary name of his son, Nicholas McCormick.
