Mildred "Millie" Adams

Mildred “Millie” Adams, 92, formerly of Amarillo, passed away on Friday October 18, 2024 in Plano, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday October 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. A Private Family burial will be in Lockney Cemetery in Lockney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Millie was born on November 18, 1931 in Texas to Edward Jefferson Rodgers and Inez Brazzel Rodgers. She married Charles Ira Simpson on November 5, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico.  Charlie passed away in 2005.  Millie never planned another husband, but God's plan was different.  On November 15, 2006 she married Richard Emmett Adams of Amarillo.  She lived in the Texas Panhandle most of her life where she was a member of First Baptist Church, and served under their ministries. Millie loved God, and served him in many roles.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles Ira Simpson, and her second husband, Richard Emmett Adams; one daughter, Edeth Simpson; three sisters, Louise Wood, Annie Chandler and Dorothy Thomas; five brothers, Edward Rodgers, Arnold Rodgers, Gene Rodgers, Ernie Rogers and Tom Rodgers.

Survivors include her three children, Rick Simpson and wife Susan, Zoe Simpson and wife Pattie and Jeff Simpson and wife Roseanna Simpson; ten grandchildren, David Simpson (Trina), Aaron Simpson (Patricia), Christie Burleson (Justin), Ashley Knippers (John), Matthew Simpson( Emily), Brandon Simpson (Shelby), Justin Simpson (Maddie), Zachary Simpson, John Merris (Jennifer) and Jonathan Churak-Simpson; fifteen great grandchildren, Ashlee Salcedo, Charles “Buddy” Simpson, David Thomas Simpson, Andrew Simpson, Zoey Knippers, Charlie Knippers, Luke Burleson, Hope Burleson, Abigail Burleson, Rachel Simpson, Levi Simpson, Judah Simpson, Dawson Simpson, Johnathan Merris and Jacob Merriss; three great-great grandchildren, Patrick Salcedo, Jaxon Salcedo and Annabelle Salcedo. Survivors also include a host of extended family and friends.
