Nancy Baker, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Pastor Greg Corona of Hillside Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Nancy was born August 20, 1936 in Anderson, Missouri to John and Grace Elliff. She grew up in Webb City, Missouri, and graduated from Webb City High School. She moved to Amarillo from Michigan in 1977. Nancy went to work for the U.S. Government in 1955, and retired from the Social Security office in 2005. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, and reading her Bible. She loved talking to her sister, Monica in Virginia every single day on the phone. She enjoyed watching Judge Judy, and she adored her beloved cat, Daisy. Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter-in-law, April Baker. Survivors include a son, Lance Baker and wife Kellye of Amarillo; a daughter, Melissa Collins and husband Dan of Amarillo; a sister, Monica Godbey and husband John of Springfield, VA; seven grandchildren, Austin Baker, Lance Ford and wife Angela, Amber Lambert and husband Tyler, Callie Ford, Alexis Weaver and husband Blake, Dylan Collins, and Cody Collins; five great-grandchildren, Braylyn, Peyton, Presley, Emma and Jayden; two nieces, Pam Perez and husband Mark, and Patty Creel and husband Albert all of VA; and a nephew, John Hopp of VA. The family suggests memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 7550 Outlook Dr. Amarillo, TX 79106.
