Nancy Dines

April 13, 1943 — November 12, 2024

Amarillo

Nancy “Mumsy” Newborg Dines, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on November 12, 2024. Memorial Services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday November 26, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo with Pastor Murray Gossett officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday November 18, 2024 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Nancy was born on April 13, 1943 in Dover, Delaware to Victor and Dr. Jean T. Newborg. She graduated from Sam Houston University in 1979 and devoted her career to teaching for the next 25 years. Nancy started out teaching Kindergarten and first grade, but quickly found her niche with her 3rd graders. Nancy married her sweetheart, Clifford Hale Dines on November 30, 1962; together they were married over 40 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always looking to spend time with her grandchild and often called to invite them over any chance she could.

Nancy was an avid seamstress, mainly sewing and knitting; later in her life she would take up crocheting as well. She had a love for books and could often be found reading her bible and studying Sermon on the Mount. Nancy was a dedicated member of First Presbyterian church in Amarillo and was a part of the Gene Miller Circle. Among Nancy’s many hobbies, she also enjoyed drawing, working with art and also enjoyed board games, card games and dominos. Watch out when playing spoons, because she would jump across the table and take your spoon. She loved playing Mahjong on her phone and listening to big band and oldie goldie music. Nancy leaves behind a long lasting legacy of love as the matriarch of the family. She leaves an empty place at the table that will be nearly impossible to fill.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford H. Dines; one brother, Victor “Ponch” Newborg and one niece, Jean Winner.

Survivors include her three daughters, Deborah Poole, Endora Pierce both of Amarillo and Flea Parker and husband Steve of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Christine Guerrero (Jeremiah), Sarah Dines (Desmin Luper), William Pierce (Perry) and Victoria Dines (Diondre Bell) eighteen great grandchildren, Artemis, London, Vaughn, Chloe, Terrence, Jaela, Jaz’dn, Desmin Jr, Damari, Saniyah, Khaza, Montana, Ryan James, Jakob, Justice, Julius, Dereon, Dallas and Sage; her sister, Jean Eckman and two brothers, William Newborg (Kathy), Jonathan Bartley Newborg (Tami); additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, a host of extended family and close friends.
