Nancy (Reed) Upton

Nancy Reed Upton, 66, of Claude, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nancy was born August 1, 1958 in Clovis, New Mexico to Weldon and Elvira Reed. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1977, and went on to further her education at Wayland Baptist University and Amarillo College. While at Amarillo College, Nancy was very involved in the Bible Chair Program in 1983. She also received a diploma in Educational Ministries from the Amarillo Southern Baptist Association. Nancy worked as a nurse aide for Georgia Manor Nursing Home. She really enjoyed her job and loved the residents there.

Nancy was a devoted Christian woman. She grew up at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, and rarely missed church while growing up. Even if her parents missed for some reason, she would ride the bus to church. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church most of her adult life. She enjoyed spending time studying the Bible and was a dedicated church attender. Nancy valued the time she was able to spend with her family; they meant everything to her. She was extremely proud of her children and their accomplishments.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Upton.

Survivors include her son, Joshua Brown of Amarillo; her daughter, Casey Upton of Amarillo; two brothers, Donny Reed and wife Debbie of Denton, TX and Robert Reed and wife Lisa of Amarillo; her sister, Lisa Thrasher and husband Terrell of Lubbock, TX; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Palo Duro Nursing Home for their compassionate care for Nancy over the last 12 years. They would also like to extend very special thanks to Enhabit Hospice for the loving care they provided to Nancy over the last few months.
