Nelda Pennington

Nelda Pennington, born on September 20, 1941, in Littlefield, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating.

In her early years, Nelda pursued a career in modeling, showcasing her grace and beauty for Susan's modeling agency in the Dallas area. This chapter of her life reflected her vibrant personality and love for creativity. Nelda was a longtime member of Trinity Fellowship Church here in Amarillo; she enjoyed being involved in the Lady Bugs group and her TFC women's life group. Nelda was also a member of the Trinity Fellowships S.A.L.T. ministry. She had a true passion for the outdoors and found immense pleasure in spending time working in her yard. Nelda is remembered fondly for her engaging conversations and genuine interest in the lives of others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Roy and Hester McCary.

Nelda is survived by her loving niece, Kelly Garry, and her husband, Steve, of Kerrville; her nephew, Chris Brock, and his wife, Jill of Corinth; her great niece and nephews, Dr. Monica Benco of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, and Jake Garry of Corpus Christi. Survivors also include a host of close friends and her loving church family.
