Neweva Brown, 94, passed away on Monday November 4, 2024. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Cox-Rowley Funeral Home in Amarillo. Graveside Services are tentatively scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Dryden Cemetery in Hollis, Oklahoma.

Neweva was born December 13, 1929 on the family farm in Hollis, Oklahoma to Jimmy and Vera Edmonson. She graduated from Ron High School in 1948 where she had great memories of her time playing basketball. She also had many memories of life on the farm, especially the hard work of pulling cotton with her sister Wilma.   She and her husband, Audrey Brown, were married on January 8, 1949, in Wellington, TX. They began their life together living on the farm in Hollis until they moved to Amarillo in 1953, then to Borger, and back to Amarillo in 1959 where they lived out the rest of their lives together for 62 wonderful years before Audrey’s passing in 2011.  Neweva worked in the home raising her 3 children and also babysat others.  Later she worked for Levi Strauss as an inspector for over 8 years. She also enjoyed selling Avon to her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.  She and Audrey enjoyed many years of square dancing with the High Plains Promenaders Square Dance Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Audrey Brown; a son, James Brown; and a granddaughter, Amy Barnes.

Survivors include a sister, Wilma Barton of San Antonio, a daughter, Dejauna Rambo and husband Gary of Enid, OK; a son, Kevin Brown and wife Kim of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Brown of Amarillo; grandchildren:  Tye Rambo and wife Lauren; Jared Brown, Ben Brown and wife Erin, and Brett Barnes; 5 great-grandchildren: Brylee and Brayson Barnes, and Audrey, Annie and Lucas Rambo; 3 sister-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dryden Cemetery Association c/o Lynda Burns   221 E. Walnut   Hollis, OK 73550.
