Norbert Cannon

March 14, 1946 — November 7, 2014

Norbert was born on March 14, 1946 in Munich, Germany to Arthur and Berta Cannon. Being the son of an Air Force career officer, the family moved and had the opportunity to live all over the world. They moved to North Carolina in 1948 and to England in 1952. In 1962, they moved to Darby, Kansas before moving to Amarillo in 1963. Norbert was a 1964 graduate of Palo Duro High School. He married Cindy Clifton on April 5, 1969 in Tuscon, Arizona, and was drafted into the U.S. Army on the same day. He served in Vietnam from 1970 through 1971. He attended Bethany College in Bethany, Oklahoma and completed his degree from West Texas State University. He worked for Bell Helicopter for 19 years before going into full time ministry as a youth director at Amarillo Church of the Nazarene. He held this position from 1990 until 1999. Without a doubt this was his favorite job of his life. He worked as plant manager for Mi Mama's Tortilla Company out of Tulia for 10 years until his retirement. Norbert loved his Lord, his family as well as his country. He was a family man. He coached and was involved in what ever sport they were involved in whether it be baseball or soccer. He loved taking vacations with his family and spent much time working in his yard. The family would like to extend a great thanks to Dr. Reddy and the staff at Texas Oncology as well as the staff at BSA Hospice for their wonderful care. He is survived by his wife Cindy of Amarillo, one son, Michael Cannon and his wife Ginger, one daughter, Tracy Striley and her husband Jeff all of Amarillo and his mother Berta Cannon of Amarillo. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Kamrynn, Brody, Brycen and Bella.
