Norman Edward McCoy, 88 years old, entered this world on September 25, 1933 to Hallace and Mary Edith McCoy in Boise City, Oklahoma and passed to the arms of the Lord on Wednesday August 10, 2022 after a short devastating illness. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2020 in Crossroad Country Church with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. 14425 S FM 1541,( South Washington St) Amarillo, TX 79118.

Norman McCoy graduated high school at Keyes, Oklahoma, where he played basketball and football. He then attended Oklahoma University at Norman, Oklahoma acquiring a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1956. He met his future wife, Mary Louise Huston, who was from Boise City, Oklahoma. at a drug store soda shop. They married in November of 1953. After college, Norman started teaching algebra, geometry, and trigonometry at Boise City High. He continued to help his father at harvest time. Norman and family moved to California where he worked for Teledyne. While at Teledyne, he was head of the team that developed the guidance system for the Apollo space craft. In 1969, Norman moved to Amarillo, TX and worked at various jobs and retired as a general consultant. He was a jack of all trades always willing to help anyone, family and friends, with homes or equipment repairs . Norman was very passionate and exacting about everything he did. He supported Christian schools with his donation of books throughout the years. He loved politics, reading, and later in life dancing with his favorite partner, Maxine Parkhurst

Norman was preceded in death by his father, Hallace McCoy, step-mother, Lois McCoy his mother, Mary Shaw and step-father, Albert Shaw, his brothers, Larmen and Johnny McCoy, his half-sister Dontti McCoy Miller Stiggins, a son, Real Roger McCoy, and the mother of his children, Mary Louise Huston McCoy.

Norman was survived by his three daughters and their spouses; Betty and Robert Warren of Amarillo, Loretta Gosselin of Kansas City, and Norma Sue and Glenn Dellis of Amarillo, along with 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family suggest memorials be made to a Private Christian School of your choice.
