Norris C. Maples of Amarillo, TX
March 16, 1923 to June 11, 2015 age 92.
N.C. was a World War II veteran, who served from 1942-1945 in France at D-day and the Battle of the Bulge, Germany, Austria and Russia. N.C. was a tanker in the 740th and 748th Tank Battalion. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and love of fishing. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceeded in death by his parents Norris C. Maples Sr. and Verna Attaway. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Maples of the home. One brother B.V. Maples of Amarillo and two sisters, Theresa Hillier of Canyon and Norma Walker of Amarillo. Four sons, Norman Maples of Ft. Worth, Keith Maples and wife Nicki, Jody Maples, Greg Maples and wife Stacey, all of Amarillo. Two daughters Renee' Maples Steel and husband Bob of Wyoming and Donna Fansler Smith and husband Miles Smith of Amarillo.
Twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, June 15th, 10:00AM by Pastor and long time friend, Syl Moore at Dreamland Cemetery, south of Canyon. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Interim Hospice Care of Amarillo, 3501 S. Soncy Rd. Suite 134, Amarillo TX 79119.
