Charlene "Charlie" Brown, 83, of Amarillo died Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Gospel Chapel, 1617 Hazell Ave. Charlene was born June 7, 1935 in Bilby, Okla. to Leo and Ruth Simmons. She attended Central High School in Tulsa, Okla. She worked as a bookkeeper early in her career. Later, she became a florist, and owned and operated Red Poppy Floral Shop in Tulsa. She moved to Amarillo from Tulsa in 1981. She worked for Star Flowers in Amarillo. Charlene was very involved with Mothers Against Meth. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Wright; her second husband, Jesse Brown; her son, Randy Wright; and two brothers, Milton Simmons, and Robert Simmons. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Wright of Amarillo; four sisters, Jeanine Myers of Amarillo, Sharon Coons and husband Steve, Cherry Fisher and husband Norm, and Jan Varner and husband Bunk all of Tulsa, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; two special friends who were like daughters to her, Pamela Hamill and Patricia Brown; and a very close friend, Tom Bouldin.
