Cindy Cummins Kemp, 66, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Friday at Beacon Baptist Church, 417 S. McMasters St. with Pastor Curtis Redmon officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Cindy was born February 23, 1953 in Mount Carmel, Illinois to Stanley and Mary Cummins. She graduated from Palo Duro High School. She married John Kemp on August 22, 1969. She worked at Eastridge Elementary School for 10 years. Cindy, aka “Granny” dedicated her life to caring for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts and sewing. She made beautiful baby blankets and Christmas cards. She and John were avid bowlers and also enjoyed square dancing. They were members of Whirly Birds and Texas Twisters. They also enjoyed many cruises together. Cindy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John Tobar; and a sister, Debbie Birdwell. Survivors include her husband, John Kemp; a daughter, Stephanie Tobar and husband Tim of Amarillo; a son, Danny Kemp and wife Judith of Leander; her parents; Stanley and Mary Cummins of Edmond, OK; four sisters, Brenda Deal of Ravia, OK, Joyce Conaway of Edmond, OK, Jo Ledford and husband Ken of Spring Hill, KS, and Rhonda Flowers and husband Tim of Amarillo; three brothers, Dennis Cash and wife Judy of Edmond, OK, Donnie Cummins and wife Billie of Amarillo, and Kevin Cummins and wife Deanna of Edmond, OK; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
