Kathy Stone

Katherine Stone, 73, of Amarillo passed away Friday, June 21, 2019. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Trinity Fellowship Church in the Student Ministries Center with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating. Born in 1946 in West Columbia, Texas, Kathy was a loving and generous member of every community she lived in. Raised on the West Columbia prairie, Kathy and her sisters went on many adventures near their rural home. She was also an active cheerleader, athlete, and band member at West Columbia high school. Kathy studied at West Texas State University in 1964, where she met her future husband, Jerry Stone, as a server in the cafeteria. They were married nine months later, and in 1980, they were blessed with their first daughter, Sarah. However God had much more in store for their family, and they were blessed again with their daughter Rachel in 1987. A devoted Christian, Kathy was a shining embodiment of love and acceptance for all, especially children. She ran an in-home daycare for 20 years, impacting not only the lives of her children and grandchildren, but the dozens of children that passed through her doors. Kathy battled stage four breast cancer for seven years, never faltering in her resilience and in her faith in God. Those who knew Kathy even in passing, will remember her ever-bright smile and her adamant love for people. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mabel Bertram; three brothers, Henry Bertram, Herman Bertram, and Emil Bertram. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Stone; two daughters, Sarah Stone-Robinson and husband Nathan Robinson of Sterling, CO, and Rachel Stone and husband Nick Torres of Austin; two sisters, Mildred Taylor of Brazoria, and Mary Krenek and husband Robert of Damon; and two grandsons, Ethan Robinson and Sage Torres. The family suggests memorials may be made to Trinity Fellowship Church Children’s Ministry, 5000 Hollywood Rd. Amarillo, TX 79118.
