Merlene Winter, 79, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 14, 2019. There are no services scheduled at this time. Merlene was born December 10, 1939 in Amarillo to Lloyd and Lucille Hubbart. She graduated from Palo Duro High School. She attended Amarillo College and WTAMU, where she earned her RN degree. She worked as an RN at BSA & VA hospitals. Merlene also obtained her cosmetology degree from Exposito School of Hair Design. She had her own hair salon. She also worked as a real estate agent. Merlene enjoyed shopping, and adored her dogs. Mostly, she loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Merlene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd Hubbart, Jr., and Clayton “Pete” Hubbart; a sister, Wanda Pace; and a great-granddaughter, Lexus Bural. Survivors include her husband, Dwight Winter; two daughters, Sonna Harper of Dade City, FL, and Tiffany Bural and husband Dale of Amarillo; a son, Jerry Winter and wife Becky of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
