Oneal "Seed" Call

June 12, 1933 — October 15, 2017

Oneal "Seed" Call, 84, of Amarillo, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. Celebration of life service will be 4:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2017, at Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. "Seed" was born June 12, 1933, in Kirkland, Texas to James Samuel and Jessie Cleo Call. A veteran of the army during Korea, he spent time at the Yucca Flat Nevada Test Site. Seed was very much a people person who never met a stranger. Seed loved to host parties and get togethers. Humor was a part of daily life. He loved a good joke and had many cartoons on the refrigerator at one time. He loved musical instruments and learned to play many of them. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing. He also loved old airplanes. Photography was also a hobby as evident by the "picture walls" where hundreds of pictures of friends and family were in his home. One of his strongest values was family. His daughter, grandkids, great-grandkids, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends that were loved like family were the most important thing to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles Call. Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Wood and husband Flint of Amarillo; a sister, Nelda Epley and husband Gene of Dallas; his longtime girlfriend, Sue Schoening of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Tory Wood of Phoenix, AZ, and Taylor Wood and husband Brian Voss of Lampasas; 3 great-grandchildren, Brixton, Teagan, and Tinsley; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made to The Salvation Army, 400 S. Harrison St, Amarillo, TX 79101; or BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave, Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106.
