Oweda Brown Mallory, 89, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026. Her Homegoing Celebration and Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2026 at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Oweda was born July 17, 1936 in Clarksville, Texas to J.C. and Margaret Brown. She attended school in California and Texas. Oweda worked as a domestic house cleaner and companion sitter. She was a gardener who loved growing beautiful flowers. This hobby seemed to match her personality because Oweda was an extremely happy person who exuded a beautiful positive outlook on life. In her later years, when her health required she have extra care, Oweda brought joy and light to all her caregivers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Andrew Mak and his care team at Harrington Cancer Center, the caregivers at Accent Home Healthcare, Heritage Convalescent Center, and BSA Hospice of the Southwest, for the extraordinary care that Oweda received.
Oweda is survived by two daughters, Suzette Overstreet and Denise Mallory Rayford, both of Amarillo; two nieces; two nephews; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins.
