Pat Virden

Pat was born May 6, 1930 in Amarillo to Pearl and Guy Virden and graduated from Amarillo High in 1949. He married Dorothy McLaughlin in Amarillo in 1949 and together, they celebrated over 67 years. He worked for BNSF Railroad for forty years, retiring in 1990 and was a member of Hillside Christian Church. A talented musician, he played piano for the group, Concords, for 13 years. He directed the Golden Spread Men's Barbershop Chorus in the early 1980's, as well as, leading music at four different Baptist churches in town. Not only was he musically talented, but also, he was very artistic, teaching art classes for senior continuing education at Amarillo College. He is preceded in death by a grandson in 1998, Gary Preston "Bubba" Virden. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; 2 sons, Gary Virden and wife Mary of Amarillo and Jeremiah Lanny Virden of Lubbock; one grandson, Chris Virden and wife Anna of Amarillo; three great grandsons, Nathan Virden and wife Lauryn of Roswell, NM, Cooper Lee Virden and Caden Floyd Virden both of Amarillo; and a great great grandson on the way, Huxley Virden.
