Paul “Cowboy” Stewart, 71, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 8, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Dr. Buddy Young officiating.

Paul was born January 26, 1952 in Portales, New Mexico to Harold and Lillian Stewart. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1970. He married Norma Jean Powell on August 9, 1990 in Sturgis, South Dakota. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Paul worked for H.I.S.S. as a security guard. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, hunting, knife smithing, and walking. He loved gardening many different varieties of peppers. Most of all, Paul loved spending time and doing most anything with his son, David. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jimmy Don Stewart and wife Linda, Dale Stewart and wife Vickey, Pee Wee Stewart, and Michael Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Stewart; his son, David Lee Stewart of Amarillo; two brothers, Tinkey Stewart and wife Jackie, and Stanley Stewart all of Amarillo; a sister, Crystal Krancher and husband Chris of Corpus Christi, TX; special aunt, Eudean Meyers and her grandson, Josh Meyers; special friends, Robert, Danny and Gus; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Coco, his beloved Chihuahua.

The family suggests memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
