Paula Denise Cantrell, 63, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, from complications from COVID 19. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at First Baptist Church Sanctuary, 1208 S. Tyler St. with Rev. Corky Holland officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Paula was born March 13, 1957 in Plainview, Texas to Bob and Mattie Thorpe. She attended Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas. Paula married Steve Cantrell on September 10, 1988 after a six year romance. They traveled extensively around the United States together on many construction projects, where Paula utilized her computer skills working for various departments in the company. They also traveled to numerous foreign countries around the world while working and enjoying the native cultures of each. Paula loved to walk the beaches looking for seashells, riding zip lines, planting flowers and gardening in her yard, playing with her grandchildren and dancing with her husband. Paula was full of life and was always there and ready for anybody that needed help. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Thorpe. She is survived by her husband, Steve Cantrell of Amarillo; her mother, Mattie Thorpe of Amarillo; her son, Kasey Shepherd and wife Ana of Amarillo; her step-daughter, Cassie Cantrell of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Ethan Shepherd, Stella Shepherd, William Shepherd and Micah Sanders; two sisters, Pattie Bates and husband Terry, and Pamela Barnhart and husband Jim all of Amarillo; and a brother, Brent Thorpe and wife Linda of Amarillo. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
