Peggy Lapier

Peggy LaPier, 76, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery

Peggy was born February 8, 1948 in Potsdam, New York to Charles and Theresa Cogswell. She grew up in a large family of eight kids. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in Binghamton, New York. Peggy worked for MVP in Schenectady, New York as a claims examiner, retiring in 2013. She moved to Amarillo, Texas that same year to be closer to her brother and his family. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed doing Zoomba and line dancing. She traveled extensively, including going to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Australia twice. She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Justin LaPier; three brothers, Larry Cogswell, Bill Cogswell, and Jim Cogswell; and a sister, Theresa Kauchis.

Survivors include her son, Darren C. LaPier of Schenectady, NY; two brothers, Chuck Cogswell of Amarillo, TX and David Cogswell of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Mary Johnson and husband Ron of Binghamton, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
