Peggy Muriel Vandagriff, age 89, of Amarillo, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 22, 2025. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday December 27, 2025 at the Church at Quail Creek, 801 Tascosa Road, with Pastor Dale Moreland officiating following with a burial at Llano Cemetery. The family will be accepting friends at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday December 26, 2025.
Peggy was born on March 31, 1936, in Hedley, Texas to Frank and Ola Mae Davis. She came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the young age of nine and faithfully served the Lord all her life. She married Luke at the age of seventeen, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. Peggy’s greatest calling and joy was being a mother. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children, instilling in them strong values, character, manners, integrity, and above all, a love for the Lord. She taught by example and lived out her faith daily. Peggy was known by many names—Mom, Mother, Grandmother, Grandma, Ladybug—but most lovingly, she was known as Mimi. She lived for a time in Pampa, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, before returning to Amarillo, where she spent the remainder of her life. Later in life, Peggy worked in a dry-cleaning business and then in property management until her retirement, when she once again focused on what she loved most—home and family. Peggy was actively involved in her church for many years, volunteering wherever she was needed and especially enjoying teaching children in Sunday school. Later in life, she worked in a dry-cleaning business and then in property management until her retirement, when she once again focused on what she loved most—home and family. After the passing of her husband, Peggy spent her remaining years surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When the time came, she passed peacefully in her bed, ready to meet Jesus and rejoice in heaven.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband and the love of her life, Luther Earl “Luke” Vandagriff, affectionately known as Pappy; her daughter, Lynetta Gay Vandagriff, who passed away at the age of six; her infant son, David Earl Vandagriff, who passed away at six months; her parents, Frank Davis and Ola Mae Davis; her brothers, Billy Frank Davis, Earl Davis, and Joe Davis; and her sisters, Geri Bittick and Pat Rudnik.
Peggy is survived by her son, James Vandagriff of Amarillo, and his wife, Susan Harmon Vandagriff; her daughter, Sherry Wright of Odessa, and her husband, Brad Wright; her daughter, Tonja Vandagriff; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and extended family.
Her life was a testimony of faith, love, and devotion, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
