Penney Helen Hensley McKee passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the age of 75. She was born on February 22, 1950, and lived a life devoted to beauty, creativity, and love.
Penney had an artist's soul. Whether she was creating floral arrangements, working as a hairdresser, or simply surrounding herself with beautiful things, she had a gift for seeing potential and bringing it to life. Beauty mattered to her-not as vanity, but as a form of care, expression, and joy. She believed that the world was better when it was made a little more beautiful, and she spent her life doing exactly that.
She was known for her warmth, her creativity, and her deep appreciation for the small joys of life. Flowers, color, laughter, and connection were her language. Her personal motto-"Live, love, and laugh"-was not just a saying, but a way she lived every day.
Penney leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and love that will continue to live on in all those who knew her, were cared for by her hands, or were touched by her generous spirit. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Penney was preceded in death by her father, Thurman Hensley; mother, Louise Hensley; and her brother, Brian Hensley. Survivors include her daughter, Marcy McKee of Natchitoches, Louisiana. We will gather to celebrate Penney's beautiful life later this spring. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
