Phoebe Ruth Gervasi

Phoebe Ruth Gervasi, 103, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026. No services are scheduled at this time. Burial will take place at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.

Phoebe was born February 7, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland to James and Ella Coomes. She was the seventh child in a family of 13 children. She married the love of her life, Paul A. Gervasi in Virginia on September 9, 1939. Together they had four children, William, Kenneth, Geraldine, and Gloria Jean who sadly passed away at just 12 weeks old. They bought their home in Baltimore in 1940 and Phoebe owned the home until earlier this year, selling it after 86 years. The couple enjoyed 57 years of marriage together until Paul’s passing in 1997.

Phoebe was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. Phoebe and Paul also helped raise two of their great-grandchildren, Matthew and Laura. Phoebe actually enjoyed cooking and cleaning, and prided herself on her home. She was loving and caring and will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Before moving to Amarillo in 2021, Phoebe was a devoted caregiver for her brother-in-law following her sister’s death. This was a promise she had made to her sister, and she was honored to be able to help him. Phoebe lived to be 103 and had an amazing long-term memory. She will be dearly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul A. Gervasi; her infant daughter, Gloria Jean Gervasi; her daughter, Geraldine Nelson; a granddaughter, Carlata; and a grandson, Danny Nelson; and all 12 of her siblings.

Survivors include two sons, William Gervasi of Amarillo and Kenneth Gervasi and wife Liz of Ocala, FL; seven grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
