Phyllis Ann ""Phyl"" James Remy Tuggle

April 27, 1938 — July 18, 2015

Phyllis Ann James Remy Tuggle went to be with Jesus on July 18, 2015. Phyllis Ann James was the youngest of five children, born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on April 27, 1938 to Guss and Tressie James. She graduated from Southeast High School, Oklahoma City, OK in 1956. She enjoyed school, played in the band and was voted Homecoming queen her senior year. Always staying busy, she worked as a "soda jerk" at a local drug store as well as night clerking at the Skirvin, one of Oklahoma City's finest hotels. She went on to attend Oklahoma State University. There, she met Jim Remy and was swept off her feet when he and his fraternity brothers sang to her outside her dorm window. They were married in May of 1957, spent eight years in Air Force service (New York, Alabama and Nebraska) and then chose private business which brought them to Lubbock, Texas and finally Amarillo. Along the way, they raised four children together. She was again swept off her feet when she met Delmer Tuggle in the spring of 2009. They were married in December of that year and have not stopped since! Together they have traveled extensively to enjoy family and friends, playing golf, dominoes and cards along the way, and rarely missing an antique shop for a possible treasure ... perhaps their greatest treasure though was each other! She invested in her church family of First Baptist Amarillo and sang in the choir for many years. Those friends and experiences were dear to her. Phyl leaves behind her loving husband, Delmer R. Tuggle and six children; two daughters Liz Mayes and husband David of Abilene, TX, Jill Remy and life partner Tami Pugh of Amarillo, TX, two sons, Gus Remy and wife Sharon of Rochester, NY, Tom Remy and wife Kacy of Tulsa, OK, two step-daughters, Della Holland and husband Marvin of Willis, TX and Crystal Dyer of Houston, TX. She is also survived by one brother, Don James and wife Diana of Little Rock, AR. She was "Grandee" to Brandy, Drake, Annabelle, Benjamin, Brooklyn, Alex, Duke, Cody, Candice, Lindsey and Kyla and three great grandchildren.
