Phyllis “Tiana” Swafford, 83, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday August 13, 2021. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday August 18, 2021 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Moorland officiating.
Phyllis was born on September 10, 1937 in Conches, New Mexico to Adam and Claudine Wormsbaker. She spent most of her life in Amarillo. She married her husband, Gene Swafford on March 11, 1955 in Amarillo. Phyllis worked for SPS as one of the first women Power Plant Mechanics they had on staff. She volunteered at the ASPCA and enjoyed writing music, and poems in her spare time. Phyllis also enjoyed crafting and making Christmas ornaments. She played the guitar and piano and used to play at various churches.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene “Gene” Swafford; two sisters, Helen and Susie; three brothers, Neil, Bryce and Bill.
Survivors include her three sons, Mike Swafford and wife Mollie, Byron Swafford of Borger, and Glen Swafford and wife Mary of Amarillo; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was also survived by her beloved dog, Dudley.
