Phyllis Young

Phyllis Young, 77, of Amarillo, passed away on December 5, 2024. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday December 12, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Greg Corona officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Phyllis was born on March 28, 1947 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Clifford and Bonnie Fleming. She married Curtis Young and they moved to Amarillo in 1967 after Curtis served in the United States Army. Phyllis enjoyed cooking for her family and supporting her sons in sports; Phyllis often could be found at the dirt track watching her sons race. She often would crochet in her spare time and worked on beading and crafts. Phyllis worked as the Chief of police secretary to the Amarillo Police Department for many years before she retired.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Young and one son, Steve Young.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Young and wife Christie of Amarillo; her sister, Connie Fritz of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Emery, Michael, Cooper and Cody; one great grandson, Ollie; three nieces, Dusti Sugar (Chris), Wendi Brock (Matt) and Christi Musick (Charlie); her daughter-in-law. Survivors also include a host of extended family and close friends.
