Ralph Weeks Newton, 78, went to be with Jesus, Saturday, October 17, 2014 at Hospice Care of the Southwest in Amarillo, TX. Ralph was born April 6, 1936 in Hawley, TX at the family homestead to Lawson & Mary E.V. Newton. He graduated from Hawley High School as valedictorian. He attended Cisco Junior College, received his BS of Science & Mathematics from McMurry & Masters of Administration from Hardin-Simmons. In 1959, he married his wife of 55 years, Alla Fern Snow, in Richland, WA where Ralph served in the US Army. Ralph was a career educator and coach, considering this a calling rather than an occupation. He has many accolades including induction into several coaching halls of fame and leading 4 state championships. Ralph's coaching journey will be displayed by a floral spray of correlating school colors for each team he coached. Ralph had a deep, genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. This love of God & the local church allowed Ralph to serve as a deacon, teacher, song leader and any way to show his faithfulness to his Christian faith. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Shorty & EV Newton of Hawley, TX; sister, Margey Godfrey Anson, TX; brothers, Elbert "Slick" Newton Abilene, TX; sister, Mary Collins Olton, TX; and grandson, Jacob Newton, Vernon,TX. He is survived by his wife, Alla Fern Snow Newton of the Amarillo home; son, Zane Newton & wife Kandy of Sayre, OK; grandson, Kaleb Newton of OKC, OK; grand-daughter, Rachel Gilreath & husband, James of Key West, FL and a great-grandson, Gavin; brothers, Jack Newton of Southlake, TX and Clois Snell and wife Peggy of Big Spring, Tx; 3 sisters, Loretta McBeath and Barbara Lambert, both of Hawley, TX and LaVoyce Giles of Arizona; dear friends, Marvin & Jeanette Lewis; special extended family, the Joe Murgel family and the Caleb Watson family; and a host a many other family and friends.
