Randy Boyett

Randy Boyett, 69, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday February 9, 2024 at First Baptist Church Chapel of Amarillo, 1208 S Tyler with Mac Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday February 8, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Randy was born on December 26, 1954, in Odessa, Texas to Mack and Patsy Boyett. Randy was big into football all through his school years. Randy was The very first student to ever win “The Fighting Texan Award” from Travis Jr High School. Randy  graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1973. Randy met the love of his life in 7th grade and married her, Gayla Hicks on April 5, 1974 in Amarillo, TX. He always had a job starting very young pumping gas at a local gas station at the age of 15. Then he went to work with Robert Hicks at Allstar Sheet Metal and Roofing for about 10 years. He later went on to work at Ben E. Keith and retired early in 1994. Where he went back to become Owner/Operator of Allstar Sheet Metal and Roofing for the last 38 years. Randy loved to go fishing, especially Lake Texoma. The water was his happy place. He was the sweetest and most patient man, even though he was known to be a bit of a prankster. When he wasn’t working Randy liked to spend time washing his truck, or “his other girl”, as Gayla would call it. Randy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known for saying “I will be on you like a chicken on a Cheeto.” His laugh was contagious. Randy was the most calmest soul you would have ever met. Randy was great at helping in the community by making Metal signs and fire pits to help raise money for medical bills etc. He never had a problem helping. Randy will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Patsy Boyett; one brother Mackey Don Boyett, and one fur baby Buster.

Randy is survived by his wife Gayla, two daughters; Michelle and husband Jason Teague of Amarillo, Kathryn and husband Mark Autrey of Amarillo; one brother; Kevin Boyett of Louisiana, one fur baby Sandy aka “Missy”; his four grandchildren; Aspen and husband Aaron Connally, Porscha Teage, Colin Teague, and Evan Boyett; two great-grandchildren; Kyzer Teague and Sawyer Connally; one hand picked grandson, Hunter Savage; his Mother-in-law Joyce Hicks of Amarillo; and a sister-in-law Connie Oldfield (Eddie) and family.
