Raul "Googie" Lomeli

Raul "Googie" Lomeli, 62, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, 1200 Washington St. Rosary service will be 5:00 pm Saturday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Raul was born September 30, 1955 in Amarillo to Domingo and Dionisia Lomeli. He attended Caprock High School and West Texas State University. He married Alma Ortega on August 23, 1972 in Amarillo. He worked at Randall County Youth Center for ten years. Raul spent his spare time collecting and trading goods. He travelled a lot for collecting, and spent his weekends working his booth at the flea market. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Izaak Lomeli; four brothers, Domingo Lomeli, Jr, Anthony Lomeli, Nemesio Lomeli, Edward Lomeli; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Rodriguez. Survivors include his wife, Alma Lomeli; a daughter, Sylvia Cooper and husband Kendall of Amarillo; two sons, Christopher Lomeli and wife Brenda, and Manuel Lomeli and wife Chelsea all of Amarillo; three brothers, Victor Lomeli and Jesus Lomeli both of Amarillo, and David Lomeli of Victoria; four sisters, Dora Romero, Rose Marie Lomeli, Juanita Lomeli, and Ernestina Vasquez all of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorial donations be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave. Ste #100, Amarillo, TX 79106.
